Marketing is a process you do when you want product exposure, when you do ebook marketing you are putting your book into a marketing funnel. When you look at how to write an ebook and how to market your book it certainly looks like two different worlds, but we will bring those worlds a little closer together in this section.
When you use the internet to market you basically have two avenues to use, one is free and the other is paid. We will look at both and list a few sources for you to look at.
Free Sources For Your Ebook Marketing Campaign
Persistency and consistency is the key to a successful campaign.
The one thing about marketing is you always need to test, and like anything else you need to keep what works and eliminate what doesn’t.
So, as we list those free sources you can try for promoting your ebook, remember to keep track of where the traffic is coming from. This way over time you can spend your time and money where you get the most BANG for the buck.
Lets Start:
- Article Marketing
- Social Media
- Free Classified Ad Sites (Craigs List)
- Revenue Sharing Sites (LuLu.com)
- Hubpages
- Your Own Website
- Amazon
Some of the categories above will have multiple sites you can work with. For example article marketing directories, there are hundreds you can send articles to. Another one is the free classified ad sites. Of course Craigs List is the biggest, but there are several smaller ad sites that you can market your ebook to.
There are some ebook publishers that will bundle their publishing service with marketing services, this is something to keep in mind.
Paid Sources For Your Ebook Marketing Campaign
If you want to speed up you marketing campaign, then paying for advertising is an option.
Again, there is some trial and error involved with this process and I would suggest you test these sources out in small increments first before you go hog wild investing in any one source.
Lets Start:
- Ezines/Newsletters
- Adwords (Googles Ad System)
- Payloadz.com
- ClickBank (Lots of Exposure and Affiliate program built in so other can sell you book too)
- US Free Ads.com ($10.00 a month for all you can post)
Some of these sources are still very cheap to use, take for instance ClickBank. There is a one time set-up fee and they do take a small percentage of each sale, but the exposure you get and the added benefit of an affiliate program is huge. If you don’t know what an affiliate program is, this is a system they have that allows others to sell your book and get a commission for it. You dictate what percentage the affiliate will get.
For example: Your book is listed with CB and you determine a 50 percent commission is what you will give someone who sells your book. CB will do all the processing, bookkeeping and payment distribution for you. If it ends up that hundreds of people are selling your ebook, you do not have to worry one sleepless night about the accounting end of it, CB takes care of everything.
Once you have things in place your ebook marketing is almost on auto pilot especially if you use sources like ClickBank to do the work for you.
Remember to start slow and see where your best results come from.
